Blue ray

It has been coming!

Yes the Blu-ray and HD DVD head to head. Would either of the formats be able to show clearly that they were the One.

Well the first round has taken place and comparisons have been made between three Warner Home Video releases, Training Day, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Rumor Has It.... .

And one is definitely in the lead.

Mac users in Japan to get Blu-ray burner

Japanese storage specialist Logitec are reported to be ready to ship what may be the world's first Mac-compatible Blu-ray Disc burner later this month.

The 2x BD drive can write to BD-R and BD-RE media offering 25GB and 50GB storage capacities.

4Q to decide HD future

The major film studios are gearing up for the end of the HD phoney war.

A recent poll of studio exec's shows a strong belief that the year end holiday season will have a major impact on which HD format will survive.

"This is just the start up year, and it’s really about early adopters," said Craig Kornblau, President of Universal Studios. "That’s why it’s so important to do it right. Whatever we do on HD, we've gotta do it very well."

"Quite frankly, I don't believe there is a format war," said Mike Dunn, president of Fox Home Entertainment, who are solely supporting Blu-ray. "The HD DVD camp hasn't brought in enough consoles to form a beachhead. I don’t believe they intend to do so. We'll see Blu-ray start to take hold this year."
